Earlobe reconstruction is a simple procedure that is most commonly performed to repair a torn or stretched earlobe, due to a gauge deformity, trauma, accident, or as a result of long term wear of heavy earrings. Stretched earlobes can become cumbersome to patients who like to wear earrings or keep their hair up.
Torn or split earlobes are sewn together using small sutures to align the edges together providing smooth unbroken surfaces on the front and back of the ear with minimally visible incision lines. After healing, a new piercing can be placed if desired.
