SWEAT TREATMENT

If you are one of the many people that suffer from excess sweating, you are not alone. Excessive sweating, clinically known as Hyperhidrosis, is a medical condition in which your body sweats up to four times more than normal in order to maintain a regulated body temperature.

Many people are burdened by this problem but don’t seek medical help, as they are not aware that this condition can be treated. With Botulinum Toxin injections from brands like Botox and Dysport, you can get months of decreased or normalized sweat production under your armpits and in the palm of your hands.

ISN'T BOTULINUM TOXIN USED FOR TREATING WRINKLES?

n 2004, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) approved BOTOX (onabotulinumtoxinA) for the treatment of severe primary axillary Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating of the underarms) in patients unable to obtain relief using antiperspirants.

Botulinum Toxin is a natural, purified protein with the ability to temporarily block the secretion of the chemical that is responsible for “turning on” the body’s sweat glands. By blocking, or interrupting, this chemical messenger, this treatment “turns off” sweating at the area where it has been injected.

How is sweat treatment done?

Botulinum Toxin for the treatment of Hyperhidrosis is most effective when performed by a physician who has received special training and who has experience with the procedure.

The protein is injected through a very fine needle into the affected areas in a series of small injections. It reduces the amount of sweat produced by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands.

Treating excessive sweating of the armpits, hands, feet, head and face (Craniofacial), and other relatively small body areas (like under the breasts) with Botulinum Toxin is safe and effective.

What can i expect from my consultation?

During your consultation, Dr. Saab or Dr. Vakis will determine if this treatment is right for you. Although there is no permanent cure for Hyperhidrosis, maintaining treatments can give you a similar effect.

Botulinum Toxin injections for sweat treatment has been shown to result in an 82-87% decrease in sweating. Results start to be noticeable approximately 2 to 4 days after treatment with the full effects usually noted within 2 weeks. Dryness typically lasts 4 to 6 months then the effects begin to wear off.

If you chose not to continue with the treatment, your sweating will gradually return to its excessive state.
